Less friction between hotel teams starts with clearer handoffs
Front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and finance work on the same stay. Their systems should make ownership obvious.
Name the owner of every handoff
When a room is marked ready, who confirms it? When a guest reports an issue, who can see its status? Write these questions into the workflow. A shared queue is valuable only when it has an owner, a priority, and a way to close the loop.
Keep the record close to the work
Staff should be able to record a task at the moment it happens. Delayed updates create duplicate calls, uncertain availability, and avoidable guest waits. Keep forms short and use the same room, booking, and guest reference across teams.
Review exceptions, not everything
Managers need a view of overdue, blocked, and repeated issues. A short daily exception review often reveals more than a long report. Use it to fix the underlying process rather than just the latest symptom.
